We were delighted to welcome members of the Mansfield community to a public meeting yesterday evening to discuss the plans for Horizons Academy to open to learners from January 2026.

The event brought together a passionate and engaged audience, with the majority of attendees being parents and carers of children with additional needs, alongside others interested in future employment opportunities at the school.

The meeting was began with Diverse Academies’, Chief Executive Officer, Dave Cotton, introducing our Trust vision, mission and values, and the organisation’s commitment to providing the best education to all children.

Newly appointed Principal, Lee Beesley, then moved on to share his vision for Horizons Academy, reflecting on the importance of balancing an aspirational curriculum, with personal and social development and intervention programmes. The formal presentations culminated in Executive Principal, Lucy Spacey, talking to attendees on what to expect in terms of the academy’s promise to parents and a phased approach to growth.

The remainder of the meeting provided an opportunity for Diverse Academies’ staff to speak with members of the public to hear feedback and answer questions about what the new provision will mean for local families.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and constructive evening. Your support and insights are helping to shape a school that will serve the needs of children and young people with care, purpose and ambition.
