Key stage 3 builds on primary foundations and introduces greater depth and subject specialism. Learners will study:

English language and literature

  • Exploring a wide range of texts and writing styles.
  • Preparing for GCSE pathways, as well as other qualifications

Mathematics

Algebra, geometry, statistics, and fluency practice

Science

Separate strands of biology, chemistry, and physics

Humanities

History and geography in greater depth, encouraging analysis and connections

Creative arts and design technology

Art, music, drama, and design technology

Computing

Developing digital literacy and problem-solving

PSHE and citizenship

Building resilience, relationships, and responsibility

Physical education

Fitness, team sports, and wellbeing

Key stage 3 also prepares learners for key stage 4 pathways. Learners begin exploring options, raising aspirations, and building independence, supported by enrichment and therapeutic provision tailored to SEMH needs.
