Horizons Academy provides education to learners with social, emotional and mental health needs as well as autistic learners. To ensure all learners get the most out of their time with us all staff adopt a consistent, predictable and nurturing approach always and we have additional support available including:
- trauma-informed teaching
- smaller class sizes with higher ratios of adult support
- safe structured spaces for emotional regulation
- personalised curriculum planning and delivery
- bespoke planned interventions
- access to specialist trained staff/therapists where appropriate
During pupils’ time at Horizons Academy there may be a number of reasons where they need some extra support. This could be help with their work, understanding a topic within a lesson, independence, problems with friends or family, or that they’re worried about something inside or outside of the academy.
Any pupil can raise their concerns with any member of staff who will be able to help or pass this on to the most relevant person. If this is a safeguarding concern, please visit our safeguarding page for full information on how to report a concern and access support. All staff are able to provide guidance and ensure concerns are passed to the appropriate member of the safeguarding team.
We take any request for help seriously and put in place measures to provide extra support where necessary.
